About us

A place under the sun-story

Halfway through a month-long journey, we met in a small Indonesian hostel somewhere in the back of Malang. After that, we took many trips together. First the two of us and later with our two children.

Our motto

Robert and Pascalle of Finca las Nuevas

After four years of living in Asia and many trips beyond, the abroad virus got hold of us. We were at a point where we could turn our lives around and very impulsively embarked on this new adventure.

Our motto: when we are old and we are sitting together in a comfortable chair, we want to be able to say to each other ‘Honey we have tried’. We don’t want to regret things we didn’t do.

The perfect place

Andalusia in Spain seemed like the perfect place for us; A wonderful climate with sunny summers and mild winters, just under a three-hour flight from the Netherlands, only half an hour’s drive from Málaga, the beaches of the Costa del Sol, several hiking areas (including Sierra las Nieves and El Torcal national park) and the beautiful turquoise lakes of Ardales with the unique Caminito del Rey, a spectacular trail along metre-high sheer cliffs. But also within two hours’ reach are the beautiful cities of Cordoba, Seville and Granada. With the bonus of the Sierra Nevada with beautiful skiing opportunities.

A leap of faith

Andalusia was a new environment for us; we had never travelled further on a motorbike than the Pyrenees and Barcelona. We took the gamble. Without a set plan, not speaking Spanish, and staying only in a cottage for a week and three nights in Casa Carmen, we had the container with our household goods shipped to Málaga.

In mid-June 2016, our adventure in southern Spain began. We quickly started looking for a temporary house, managed to arrange a school for Joanne and Oek just before the summer holidays and went out with estate agents to view houses.

Robert and Pascalle of Finca Las Nuevas

Finca Las Nuevas was the first house we visited with an estate agent and we instantly fell in love. In love with the views over rolling mountains with olive and almond trees, with the serene peace that surrounds the house and the beautiful finca with two spacious holiday homes, two flats and a cosy studio, not to mention the swimming pool with a view.

More than a year after we arrived in southern Spain, we moved to Finca Las Nuevas and have been working on our ideal picture ever since.

The doggies Pablo, Rosie, and Gipsy and cat Lilly were already there and they were happy to stay with us. Meanwhile, only Rosie is still with us. She knows she is not allowed in the houses. Rosie likes to go for walks with us, she is a Spanish hunting dog and also likes to go on adventures in the country.

Our ideal picture with Finca Las Nuevas

Away from home, we want to give you a home to enjoy your holidays, where there is time and space for wonderful relaxation, where the surroundings challenge you to go on adventures and where you can refuel your energy. We will be happy to give you tips on the area, and if you feel like having a chat, we want to be there for you. If you feel like retreating, we’ll let you do as you please.

Saludos,

Pascalle and Robert
