There are sandy paths in all wind directions, where you can cycle peacefully. For example, you can cycle on a beautiful road to El Torcal. Real die-hards might even venture up a steep climb to enjoy the unique landscape with beautiful limestone formations.
Flat, paved routes in the Guadalhorce valley
If you prefer paved, flat roads, the Guadalhorce valley is perfect for you. The Guadalhorce is a river that eventually flows into the Mediterranean at Málaga. The valley named after this river starts to the west of Málaga and extends to the Ardales lakes. This region is characterized by agriculture. You will therefore observe many lime- and orange trees along the way.
In addition, there are also many typical Andalusian white mountain villages, such as Álora, Cártama, Pizarra, and Alhaurin el Grande. They offer plenty of possibilities to get off your bike and experience Spanish life. These villages still breathe an authentic Spanish atmosphere. It will be crowded in the morning, but from approx. 2 pm the siesta starts and sometimes you will cycle all alone through the village. Around 7 pm the village comes back to life again.
