Parking tips

Parking tips for places of interest and seaside resorts in Andalusia can save you a lot of searching. Nothing is more annoying than having to search for a parking space in an unfamiliar place or not being able to find the right spot. Below we’d like to give you some parking tips for frequently visited places in Andalusia.

Málaga

Málaga is a lovely city to visit. Going by car to Málaga we prefer to park in the parking garage of Muelle uno. This is a spacious parking at the harbour. From here you can easily walk into the city centre. Public restrooms can be found on floor -1. If you don’t want to drive into the city centre. You can take the train from Cártama de Estación. Buy a roundticket (ida y vuelta) to Alameda (Málaga centre). This is a direct train. The timetable you can check here.

You can also drive to the shopping centre Plaza Mayor on the outskirts of Málaga and take the train from there.

Torremolinos

Torremolinos has a huge sandy beach with a beach watch. There are a few places with palm trees and grass to enjoy the shade. What we like about Torremolinos is you will always find a parking place easily ( it costs 1 euro for a whole day) and it has a walking esplanade which goes all the way up to Benalmádena (7km). Also nice to have a stroll when the weather is a bit chilly.

To get there: take the A-357 to Malaga, MA-20 to Torremolinos, exit Parador de Malaga Golf/Plaza Mayor, roundabout 5th exit to Playa.

Marbella

A bit further away and a bit more style. The sandy beach in the centre is busy and smaller than Torremolinos, but Marbella has a beautiful old city centre (Casco Antiguo) with white houses and small alleys, free of traffic. Parking will be in a garage. We have found a cheap one (3,50 a whole day) at Calle del Calvario, only 10 min. walk to the city centre and the beach.

To get there: Take the A-357 to Coín, A355 to Marbella

La Cala de Mijas

A cosy sandy beach in a small village. A wooden walkway leads you along the rock coast, with crystal clear blue water and on a clear day a view of Africa, all the way to Marbella. Parking is best in the sandy market area, next to the highway coming from Mijas. Wednesdays and Saturdays you will see a nice open-air market here. To get there: Take the A-357 to Coín, A-355 to Marbella, MA-3303 to Fuengirola/Mijas, A-7053 to Mijas/La Cala de Mijas

Mijas Pueblo

This is a nice whitewashed mountain village. Don’t park your car along the road, but rather drive to the parking. Park your car for 1 euro a day. Take the elevator to the 10th floor and you’ll be in the middle of the village.

Setenil de Las Bodegas

One of the most beautiful villages of Spain can be combined with a visit to Ronda. The village has a huge indoor parking. At first sight, you won’t see this parking. Follow the main road along the village. If you can’t park along this road, follow the parking sign. You might think the parking is way out of the village. Relax, just follow the signs. With a detour, you’ll end up in a parking garage on the other edge of the village where you can park for 1 euro a day. From here you are exactly where you want to be.

Parking tips for Ronda

Ronda is a much-visited place in Andalusia, and for good reason. It’s a beautiful town. If you enter Ronda via Ardales on the A367, you’ll drive straight into a car park (Parking APK2 Martinez Astein). This car park is convenient, as you can walk straight into the Carrera Espinel shopping street. There is also a toilet.
